Police are investigating after a boy was knocked off his bike on his way to school in Maidstone.
The child, understood to be in year 6 at St Michael's Church of England Junior School, was struck after a blue car allegedly mounted the pavement on Lower Fant Road this morning.
A spokeswoman for Kent Police confirmed officers were called at around 9am and said: "It is reported that the collision took place earlier and there are not believed to be any serious injuries.
"It is alleged that driver failed to stop following the collision and enquiries are ongoing."
A statement from head of school Sue Heather added: "The young man has gone to be checked out at the hospital, but his injuries luckily appear so far to be minor.
"That said as you can appreciate he is extremely shaken and scared."
She asked for anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch with the school so information could be passed to the police.
South East Coast Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
