REVVING engines and loud music are once again causing sleepless nights for Maidstone residents as boy racers resume their late-night gatherings at the Wickes car park.
The situation, which developed at the site off London Road nearly six months ago but appeared recently to have improved, has now become so serious that the site's managing agents are planning to erect fences to keep the troublesome racers out.
Every night groups of young people take their cars down to the car park to join in races, rev their engines and play loud music.
Susan Hart, who lives near the site, said: "We are constantly kept awake until very late into the night with the thumping of loud music and roaring of cars. We have called the police but to no avail it seems."
PC Tony Howland, tactical roads investigations officer, said: "We haven't heard anything from the public recently so we hoped the problem had died down as a result of our operations together with the issuing of warning notifications."
He stressed: "Now we know the problem is back we will try to put a plan together."
