A bridge has been closed after a lorry struck a wall and a house.
East Farleigh Bridge has been blocked following the collision, which happened at 3.30pm, after the HGV became stuck.
It is understood it may have hit another vehicle while trying to get out of the jam.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area and long tailbacks are being reported.
Police are managing traffic at the scene but no injuries have been reported.
The the single-lane road, which sits between Station Road and Farleigh Hill, is metres from a hand-operated railway level crossing.
It is already notorious for being grid-locked during rush hour, and earlier this year a petition was launched for road and rail bosses to come up with a solution for the traffic problems.
