A Maidstone-born performer who reached the semi finals of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent will be starring in a show which pays homage to the film classic Dirty Dancing in the county.
Joe Stribley, 22, who started out at the Mandy Ellen Performing Arts College in Earl Street, was a semi finalist in the hit show with five-piece tap group The Beat Brothers, last month.
Tomorrow (Saturday)he will be part of the cast of An Evening of Dirty Dancing: The Tribute Show at the Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone.
He is a dancer in the fifth anniversary tour of the show, which celebrates the multi-award winning movie soundtrack, Dirty Dancing.
He said: “It feels awesome to be coming home to Kent with An Evening of Dirty Dancing. I love being a part of the show and it’s always an amazing night. The choreography is really hard but it keeps us on our toes.
"It’s been a great year so far with this and getting to the semi-finals on Britain’s Got Talent. It was such a brilliant opportunity and we all loved every minute of it. It was unreal."
He also revealed earlier this year that he was working as a dancer on the stricken Costa Concordia cruise ship when it was ran aground on a jagged reef near Tuscany in January 2012 in a disaster which claimed 32 lives.
Tickets for An Evening of Dirty Dancing: The Tribute Show cost £21.90 plus a £2.85 transaction fee. To book visit www.atgtickets.com/folkestone or call 01303 228600.
