Building society goes interactive
00:00, 12 April 2002
YORKSHIRE Building Society has launched an interactive website at www.yorkshirebuildingsociety.co.uk.
The majority of Yorkshire Building Society mortgages are available together with E-Saver and E-ISA savings accounts. Later this year some of the society’s existing accounts will also be web enabled.
Since the low key launch during January, nearly £70 million worth of mortgage applications have been received and more than 400 savings accounts with balances exceeding £2 million have been opened.
Linda Will, head of E-Commerce, said: “We deliberately decided on a stealth launch to test customer reaction to the site and to make sure that everything worked as we would wish.”
Members can apply on-line for credit cards, personal loans and travel money. Travel insurance can be bought via a telephone link.
Mortgage applicants can get an approval in principle in 10 to 15 minutes and can then continue to full mortgage application. The applicant can then log into the system to track the progress of their application on a daily basis.
Yorkshire Building Society is the third largest building society with 131 branches across the UK.
