Bus with passengers on board caught speeding in Bearsted, near Maidstone

A bus carrying passengers has been caught speeding through a village.

The vehicle was clocked doing 43mph in a 30mph limit in Bearsted, near Maidstone, this morning.

Kent Police's Road Policing Unit (RPU) tweeted to say it had carried out a number of checks across the county today.

It added a photo of the 43mph figure, clocked at 8.47am, saying: "This one was in #bearsted in a 30 mph speed restriction. It was also a bus carrying fare paying passengers."

The identity of the company the bus belonged to has not been revealed.

It is not known whether any action will be taken against the driver.

Meanwhile, an Audi TT was spotted by RPU officers doing 112mph on the M2 this morning.

The unit tweeted to say it was an "unacceptable speed", adding: "Outrageous even! Driver to expect a court appearance and possible disqualification."
