Bus passengers flee fire

Passengers were evacuated when a bus caught fire in an underground station.
Firefighters were called to the Chequers Bus Station in Romney Place, Maidstone, just after 1.50pm today, Tuesday, June 12, after a single-decker bus caught fire.
Two pumps attended and crews battled the fire for ten minutes - first dowsing the blaze then clearing the smoke with pressure fans.
No one was injured.
