A holiday park which is currently only permitted to open from March through to December is seeking an element of permanent accommodation.
Oak View Holiday Park in Scragged Oak Road, Detling, currently has permission for up to 80 touring caravans or tent pitches.
But apart from two caravans for the site manager, none are allowed to over-winter on the site which lies within the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Now the park wants to build four permanent lodges on some of the hard-standings already on the site.
The application is being supported by the tourist agency, Visit Kent, and by local businesses including Detling Community Store, MB Farms and the Cock Horse pub, all of whom say customers from the site bring much-needed business.
The site was once part of the Kent County Showground, breaking away in 2010.
The application can be viewed on the Maidstone council website here.
