A by-election will be held to appoint a new Kent County Councillor
The vacancy has arisen following the death of Cllr Dan Daley, aged 90, in March.
Cllr Daley had held the Maidstone Central Division seat for the Liberal Democrats for 22 years since 2001.
The division takes in the Allington, Bridge, Fant, Heath and High Street borough wards.
Nominations for candidates must be submitted to Maidstone council (who will run the election) by 4pm on Friday, June 9.
The election will be on Thursday, July 6, with voting between 7am and 10pm. Once again voters will need to take photo ID with them to the polling station.
Although the full list of candidates is not yet known, there will be at least three for voters to choose from as they have already thrown their hats in the ring.
They are Stanley Forecast (Con); Chris Passmore (Lib Dem), and Stuart Jeffery (Green).
Labour also intends to field a candidate but has not yet announced the name.
Stanley Forecast and Stuart Jeffery are already Maidstone Borough Councillors.
