A mum who was left distraught when her baby had a seizure in a busy jewellers is searching for a kind-hearted stranger who came rushing to help.

Sophie Harman was shopping with her fiancé, Michael Vernau, and 18-month-old Amelia at Fraser Hart in Fremlin Walk, Maidstone, on Boxing Day at 11am when the drama unfolded.

Miss Harman, of Tovil Green, thanked members of the public and Fremlin Walk staff who rushed to help the tot, but the generosity of one bystander particularly touched the 24-year-old mum.

She said: "Amelia had a high temperature, she was wearing a Father Christmas costume so we had to cut her out of her clothes.

"One lady came over and asked if we had any spare vests or clothes for Amelia. We didn't know we'd be going to hospital so we had nothing.

"She went to Primark and bought a load of vests and thin clothes to keep her from getting too cold."

Miss Harman, who works as a beautician at David Lloyd in Lockmeadow, Maidstone, added the woman, who she didn't know, wouldn't take any money for the clothes.

She said: "I can't remember what the woman looks like, but she's got brown hair and is in her late 30s to early 40s.

"It may not seem like a lot, but it meant so much. I want to get her something to say thank you."

Amelia was taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury for treatment and is now recovering at home.
