A collapsed manhole cover will continue to cause delays for motorists today.

The hazard closed the entire Maidstone-bound carriageway of the A249 Detling Hill, between Scragged Oak Lane and Pilgrims Way, from 8pm yesterday.

One of the lanes reopened at 5am today but the other will stay shut throughout today while emergency repairs are carried out.

The whole south-bound carriageway will be closed again between the two roads, from 8pm tonight.

Both lanes are expected to reopen at 5am tomorrow.

Kent Highways has warned drivers to allow extra time for their journeys.
