Construction worker dies in site fall

A 47-year old man has died in a fall during building work at the site of a new waste incinerator.
The accident happened at the Kent Enviro power led project under construction at the disused Allington Quarry, Maidstone, shortly before midday on Tuesday.
The construction worker is understood to have lived in the Medway area and was an employee of Lurki UK Ltd, the principal site contractor. His family have yet to be informed.
A spokesman for Lurki UK Ltd, the principal site contractor, said emergency services and the Health and Safety Executive had been notified immediately of the accident and all construction work halted.
She said: "Kent police and HSE have launched an investigation and Lurgi (UK) Limited, the principal contractor on site and the construction worker’s employer, are co-operating fully with the investigation.
"The man has not been named pending contact with his family."
