Police called to 'suspicious package' at Maidstone Mosque

A police cordon is in place after Maidstone Mosque received a package containing "white powder".
Two patrol cars are outside the mosque in Mote Road, having received a call at 3.10pm.
Maidstone Mosque has confirmed it received a "hate letter" containing "white powder" earlier today.
Officers are now investigating the package - with the powder thought to be harmless.
A spokesperson from Kent Police said: "We received a report of a suspicious package on Mote Road, Maidstone at 3.10pm on Wednesday 2 May 2018.
"Officers are at the scene where a cordon has been set up to ensure public safety.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish what is inside the package.
"No injuries have been reported."
Police are investigating the possibility all three letters are linked.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service has sent three vehicles to the scene.
