The Cellars Alehouse underneath old Style and Winch brewery in Buckland Road, Maidstone, to open

The much-awaited opening of a Maidstone micropub is scheduled for Friday.
The Cellars Alehouse has been built in the basement of the old Style and Winch Brewery, in Buckland Road, by real ale enthusiasts and father and son team Duncan and David Spencer, from Gallants Lane, East Farleigh.
The cosy room, beneath microbrewery Maidstone Brewing Company, plans to open its doors at 4.30pm, after months of setbacks.
It will be the only micropub in the town, with the former Crafty Alehouse in Earl Street closing in July.
A micropub is defined as a small freehouse which mainly serves cask ales, promotes conversation, shuns all forms of electronic entertainment and serves traditional pub snacks.
Duncan Spencer said: “We’re just putting the finishing touches to the pub now and have taken the first delivery of beer this week.”
He added: “People should not expect a pint of lager here.
“We will be serving real ale, cider, wine and soft drinks and eventually plan to bring in pub snacks.”
