Organisers of the popular Kent County Show are increasing their entertainment for 2014 buoyed by a forecast for dry weather and increased visitor numbers last year.
The Kent County Agricultural Society will be putting on the three-day agricultural extravaganza at the Kent Showground in Detling this year on Friday, July 11, Saturday, July 12, and Sunday, July 13.
They have also announced that ticket prices will stay the same as last year.
The line-up, announced today, includes pole climbing for the first time, which will join the ever-popular livestock parades, traditional marching bands and arena displays.
Show manager Lucy Hegarty said: "Last year saw a huge increase in gate numbers following the previous two years' decline due to the unseasonal weather.
"We are aware that the long term forecast for the coming summer is extremely positive for the south of England so we are concentrating our efforts on giving our visitors the best possible day out”.
Motorcyclist display teams James Dylan Stuntworld and the Imps Motorcycle Display Team will be wowing the crowds, while the Band of the Corps of the Royal Engineers, based at Chatham Barracks, will be playing all three days.
The new Maidstone Exhibition Hall, which replaces the temporary Kent Pavilion, will be home to a Creative Crafts Show and the livestock displays will include a sheep version of the Grand National - Bob Hogg’s Lamb National.
There will also be the usual CLA Country & Game Area with birds of prey and gun dogs, and it will be here that visitors can try and climb a 25m pole in the quickest time.
Set to be a big attraction are a bandstand, large picnic area and live music, plus crowd-puller Titan the Robot will be back after a year's absence.
The pre-paid family ticket, costing £37 and £45 on the gate, will stay the same as last year.
Adult tickets are £20 on the gate or £18 in advance, and it costs £6 on the gate for children and £5 beforehand. A senior ticket is £13 on the gate and £11.50 in advance.
