There were delays on a major route into Maidstone this morning.
Traffic was stationary on the south-bound A229 after a lane was closed by the Chatham Road junction following a four-car pile-up at 4.50am.
It was made worse after a further two vehicles collided.
Queues were reported back to the Lord Lees Roundabout.
An ambulance service spokesman said an ambulance and two paramedic cars were sent and all people involved in the first crash were treated at the scene. They suffered minor injuries.
The spokesman added: "Our crew then radioed in to say there had been a second crash around 5.55am. A person had suffered a low-impact injury to their back. They were taken to the Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury."
The road is now fully open and congestion remained until 8am.
