Crashes in fog cause jams
00:00, 12 March 2004
TWO accidents in thick fog on the M20 caused minor tailbacks for many drivers this morning.
The first accident happened at about 7am at junction four at Leybourne, near West Malling and involved four vehicles. The accident blocked one lane for a short time, causing some tailbacks.
The second accident happened at around 8.25am at junction six at Penenden Heath, near Maidstone. A white transit van and a blue car collided but were immediately moved to the hard shoulder.
No-one was injured in either accidents.
A police spokeswoman said that the collisions, combined with heavy fog, may have been responsible for slow-moving traffic and short tailbacks on the motorway.
