A village store has taken to social media to track down a man caught on CCTV apparently putting a collection tin inside his jacket before casually walking out.
The flat-cap-wearing customer came into the Lenham shop while the shop keeper was in the store room before apparently helping himself to the charity box.
The staff member became suspicious when he saw the customer walking hastily away - and checked the store's security camera.
When he realised what had happened, he posted it on social media to see if anyone locally could identify the culprit.
Police have been informed and it's not known how much money was in the tin which had been destined for the Kent Air Ambulance which relies on charity collections to operate.
The shop, based in The Square, posted: "We have just had someone steal the Kent Air Ambulance collection tin, saw him walking up the road quickly when I came from the stock room so thought I'd check the cameras, police have been informed but wanted to let locals know as someone probably knows them, would be nice for the charity to get the money they are given by our customers and not for it to be stolen!!"
