A West Farleigh-based children’s charity is holding an online fundraising auction, with items donated from some of the county’s best known brands.
Do you fancy a private vineyard tour, becoming a goat keeper for a day or how about a month’s supply of crisps to feast on?
These prizes and more are up for grabs in Dandelion Time’s Best of Kent online auction.
The charity, which helps children struggling with trauma, domestic abuse and neglect, has lost out on £50,000 of fundraising this year thanks to the pandemic, which saw marathons and fairs cancelled.
But, it is hoping the auction, starting this Sunday and lasting for two weeks, will boost the coffers thanks to generous donations from Kent brands.
Jess Kingston-Stewart, marketing officer at Dandelion Time, said: “This is usually an exciting time because would have a Christmas fair at our farm.
“Unfortunately we can’t do that this year but we still wanted to bring the community together. Everyone seems really excited about it.”
Other items offered up include day passes at Leeds Castle in Maidstone, a VIP dining pod experience at The Curious Eatery in Boughton Monchelsea where four friends can relax in their own kitted out, outside dome, packages from COOK and an afternoon tea at Eastwell Manor Champney’s Spa.
Dandelion Time, in Charlton Lane, provides time for families to improve relationships and create new memories while embracing the natural world.
Together, groups spend time enjoying the charity’s farm, caring for animals and growing produce. Children take part in hands-on activities such as woodwork and the whole experience is guided by a therapist.
While many organisations at the start of lockdown had to turn to other ways of operating, because Dandelion Time’s services run outside and with plenty of space, families have still been able to visit.
Miss Kingston- Stewart said: “In this pandemic we have seen how vulnerable people have been really affected , it has been wonderful they can come to us, it has been a lifeline.
“It has really highlighted the healing power of nature which is core to what we do. We have been so lucky to have all this land to run our services.”
The money raised through the auction will help Dandelion Time continue their therapeutic work with vulnerable children.
