Villagers are waiting for a dead horse to be moved from a roadside.

The animal was dumped amongst corrugated asbestos and other rubbish along Green Lane in Chart Sutton.

Emma Baker-Robins, whose father lives in the village, said: "It's quite revolting really.

"It was my father who noticed it on Wednesday, it was still there when I drove past this morning.

"Fly-tipping is a big problem in the area, especially in that road, but this has gone above and beyond."

The remains have been reported to Maidstone Borough Council.

The council confirmed it had moved corrugated asbestos from the roadside, but the horse was due to be moved by Kent County Council.

An RSPCA spokesperson said: "This looks like a very distressing incident, we would always urge owners who are struggling to care for their horses to contact the RSPCA or other horse welfare charities for advice and assistance rather than simply dumping their animals like rubbish.

"Sadly veterinary treatment and the disposal of a body of a large animal can be very expensive so the RSPCA does see situations like this fairly regularly.
