Ford dealer Haynes in Ashford Road, Maidstone applies to expand
12:42, 06 September 2023
A Ford dealership is applying for an extension to its premises.
Haynes Ford wants to add a two-storey annex to the rear of its main workshop at its Ashford Road site in Maidstone.
The extension would house a new reception area, offices, and a call centre on the first floor.
But in applying to Maidstone council for planning permission, the firm said no extra jobs would be created.
The group managing director James Broadley told KentOnline: “I wish we had better news.
“However, our feeling – and the feeling we get from other business leaders – is that increasing interest rate hikes and the threat of recession are putting most business growth plans on hold and we are no exception.
“While we are applying for planning permission to extend our commercial vehicle workshop, we will not be implementing the work until the economic situation stabilises and becomes clearer.”
The application can be viewed here.
Application number 23/503764 refers.
