Defeat tempers Invicta Dynamos' celebrations

Invicta Dynamos coach Kevin Parrish admitted that his side’s celebrations after they were presented with the ENIHL Division 1 South trophy on Sunday night were more subdued than might normally have been the case.
Dynamos received the cup after their 14-3 victory over the Oxford City Stars at the Gillingham Ice Bowl but 24 hours earlier they had seen their hopes of reaching the Southern play-off final disappear with a 5-2 defeat at the Bracknell Hornets.
Parrish said: "We had a few beers (on Sunday night) but we didn’t go overboard because we were still feeling disappointed from Saturday night."
The defeat at Bracknell, Dynamos’ third of the season on the Hornets home ice, meant that Invicta couldn’t qualify for the final regardless of what they did in their final group game with Oxford but Parrish was determined to end the season on a high note.
He added: "I said to the boys after the Bracknell game that we had already achieved what we wanted to achieve this season, winning the league again but that it was important to end the season on the right note by winning our final game in front of our own fans.
"Once again the team responded superbly."
