Maidstone: Crash on A249 near M20 Junction 7 roundabout

There were long queues on the A249 following a crash involving a caravan, lorry and a cement mixer.

The Maidstone-bound carriageway has now reopened, opposite Kent Showground heading towards the M20 Junction 7 roundabout, following the collision at 10am.

The car towing the caravan ended up in a ditch, down the embankment at Detling Hill.

Police and paramedics were called and drivers were warned to expect delays and allow extra time for their journeys.

Initially a lane was cordoned off, but officers temporarily closed the road while the scene was cleared. Traffic was diverted via the M2.
