A26 Tonbridge Road in Maidstone shut in both directions after crash involving pedestrian

A main route that leads into a town centre was shut due to a crash involving a car and pedestrian.
The A26 Tonbridge Road, near the junction with Terrace Road in Maidstone, was blocked in both directions.
It is understood the collision happened at around 5.15pm.
According to traffic monitoring tool Inrix, there were slow queues from St George's Square to Bower Street.
Drivers were being diverted via the London Road and Queens Road.
Bus company Arriva posted a warning to passengers on X this evening, saying numbers 3, 6 and 7 were being rerouted.
A spokesman for Kent Police said: “Officers attended along with SECAmb, who treated a man for injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
“The road was closed while crews responded to the incident and reopened at around 6.30pm.”
The ambulance service has been contacted for more information.
