Organisers are facing complaints after drivers faced two-and-a-half hour queues to get to a bank holiday car event.

The BHP Performance Show drew thousands to the County Showground at Detling, near Maidstone, today to admire high performance vehicles and classic cars, but many gave up before even reaching the event.

Furious drivers took to social media to voice their frustrations, after being stuck in traffic for hours.

“I was really looking forward to this,” said one. “We sat in the traffic for two-and-a-half hours then gave up. What a joke, poor organisation. Won’t be doing that again! I’m glad we never pre-booked tickets.”

Another added: “We have been sat in traffic for ages, absolutely pointless, traffic chaos, we have left and are heading to the vintage car show in Faversham instead.”

Other suggested many who pre-booked would be wanting a refund, adding: “I’m sure others would want some money for our clutches, you had many cars outside breaking down. Never again I’m afraid.”

“Given up,” said another driver. “Joined the queue at 9.30am. Absolutely pointless. Gridlock. Poorly organised. Never again.”

BHP show orgainsers have been approached for comment.
