EastEnders stillbirth storyline praised by charity Remember My Baby

A charity that works with bereaved parents at one of the most difficult times of their lives has welcomed an emotional EastEnders storyline.
Soap viewers saw Shabnam Masood and fiancée Kush Kazemi being told their baby had died during pregnancy.
But worse news was to come when the couple were told Shabnam would have to give birth.
In emotional scenes aired on Monday the pair found out they were expecting a boy and got to hold him and say their goodbyes – earning praise for actors Rakhee Thakrar (Shabnam) and Davood Ghadami (Kush).
It’s a scene that resonates with Imelda Bell who sensitively speaks to people in similar situations.
She works with Remember My Baby, an organisation which gives parents the chance to have a remembrance photo of their loved one.
The service is offered to parents of a child who has died before, during, or shortly after birth.
It has been running at Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells and Medway Maritime Hospitals for the last year. So far Mrs Bell has been called once.
Mrs Bell, who volunteers alongside her full-time job as a photographer, said: “It’s great to see a national television programme tackling an issue many are scared to discuss.”
Her work for the charity has a deep personal connection as she lost her brother Andrew when he was six days old. He had a heart defect.
She added: “I have been out to one photography session and have been asked to re-touch some photos families have taken.
“Of course I find it hard to look at the images, but it gives me great satisfaction to provide parents with a memory they can treasure.”
Families can choose to have images on a disc or memory stick and can also ask for photographs to be digitally enhanced in a tasteful way.
