An EastEnders star has swapped Albert Square for her kitchen to help raise funds for an NHS charity.

Milly Zero, who plays Dotty Cotton - the granddaughter of legendary character Dot Cotton on the BBC1 soap, was inspired by a friend to take part in the ‘Bake. Donate. Nominate’ challenge, which aims to raise £20,000 for the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust Charitable Fund.

The campaign is encouraging people to bake a sweet or savoury treat, donate £5 to the trust's JustGiving page and nominate five friends to do the same.

Bakers can also share their creations on social media by tagging @MTWbakes on Instagram or by using the hashtags #mtwbakes and #bakedonatenominate.

Miss Zero, who was nominated for 'best newcomer' at this year's RadioTimes.com Soap Awards, appears in a video promoting the campaign.

The 21-year-old said: "I find baking is really therapeutic for my own health and wellbeing and I enjoyed making a chocolate cake as part of this challenge.

"I’m asking as many people as possible to bake a sweet treat and donate five pounds to the trust’s charity."

The trust's fundraising manager, Laura Kennedy, added: "Donations from this baking challenge will help to fund projects to support staff health and wellbeing which is so critical throughout the Covid-19 response.

"We’re grateful to all our bakers, including Milly."

So far, the challenge has raised almost £2,500 for the NHS.
