A devious father stabbed himself and then claimed he had been attacked by his ex-partner.
Distraught Jennifer Marshall was arrested following Danny Tiplady's false allegation, backed up by his father Martin.
Miss Marshall had travelled from her new home to collect some of her belongings and for another matter, which cannot be published for legal reasons.
When Miss Marshall arrived at the flat at Tennyson Lodge, Maidstone, 26-year-old Tiplady's father, 47, was also there.
"While Miss Marshall was collecting some items, Danny Tiplady stabbed himself in the right side using a serrated kitchen knife wrapped in tissue," prosecutor Jose Oliveres-Chandler told Maidstone Crown Court.
"His father called an ambulance and the police, stating that Miss Marshall had lunged at him with a knife.
"Miss Marshall was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. Danny Tiplady was taken to hospital, where the wound was treated.
"Both father and son made statements indicating Miss Marshall was responsible. She maintained he had stabbed himself."
She was not charged and Danny and Martin Tiplady were then arrested for perverting the course of justice.
Danny Tiplady admitted the charge. Martin Tiplady, of Kent Avenue, Maidstone, denied it but a jury convicted him by an 11-1 majority.
Miss Marshall told via a TV link between the court and Norwich, where she now lives, how she went to the seventh floor flat with her brother on October 5 last year. Danny Tiplady told her brother to wait in the car park.
"He was calm at first," she said. "He then started getting agitated with me. Martin Tiplady said I was being childish.
"I was terrified. I started breaking down and crying... " - Jennifer Marshall
"I went to collect my cosmetics from the bathroom. I heard a scream coming from the living room. I rushed into the hallway. I saw Danny crouched on the floor.
"He shouted to his father: 'Call the police. Jennifer has just stabbed me.' I was terrified. I started breaking down and crying."
Miss Marshall said Martin Tiplady grinned at her. She asked him: "Why are you doing this?"
She waited in the hallway outside the flat for the police to arrive.
"I was arrested and taken for interview," she added: "I was in quite a lot of shock at that point."
Judge Charles Macdonald QC adjourned sentence for reports until September 2.
