A flat has been closed by police for three months after reports of acts of violence, drug use and anti-social behaviour.

Officers had warned people living at the property near Wallis Avenue, Parkwood in Maidstone on several occasions but the problems continued.

Most recently, a window was damaged with a hammer.

Police were granted a court order for the premises at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on Friday (March 15).

The housing association-owned building has been made secure and a sign has been put up warning of a fine or prison sentence if anyone without authorisation enters.

Inspector Steve Kent said: “Residents have endured violent disturbances, drug abuse and noise at all times of the day by those using and visiting this flat.

“Those affected contacted our local officers about the issues and the occupants were visited and warned about their conduct. However, as the incidents continued - including recent damage to a window at the flat with a hammer - we have now taken steps to secure the premises.

“We work closely with Maidstone Borough Council and housing associations to tackle disorderly households and prevent them making people’s lives a misery.”

Golding Homes will be taking possession of the premises.
