Football pavilion at Sutton Valence to be demolished
16:29, 27 October 2023
It’s been there around 50 years, but a parish council is blowing the final whistle on its pavilion.
The wooden structure on the War Memorial Playing Fields in Sutton Valence is believed to have been erected in the 1970s and served football teams well for several decades, who used it as a changing room, but in more recent times has fallen into disuse.
The utility services – water and electric – were disconnected several years ago and the final straw came this year when the parish council’s insurers refused to renew the building’s insurance.
The parish at first tried to sell the structure on eBay, hoping someone would come and dismantle it and take it away. There were no takers.
Now the council has given notice to Maidstone borough that it intends to demolish the building.
The application can be viewed here, application number 23/5047909

There are no plans for a replacement.
The structure will come down on November 23.
