Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider could be the latest recruit to the all-star Lashings team.

Haider has been offered a deal by David Folb’s side and contacted the Maidstone-based club earlier this week to confirm his interest in playing this summer.

Folb (pictured) said: "The news is exciting. Zulqarnain contacted us on Monday evening to say he will join if we are interested."

Haider fled to London last year over concerns for his safety after refusing to take part in alleged match fixing, although reports last week suggested he was withdrawing his application for asylum and was prepared to return to Pakistan.

Meanwhile, former England fast bowler Darren Gough is expected to make his Lashings debut this year and joins fellow former internationals Dominic Cork, Graeme Hick and Andy Caddick at the club.

Phil DeFreitas takes the reins as captain but former skippers Richie Richardson and Chris Harris remain in the squad.
