A Kent schoolboy is one step closer to living his singing dream, after getting through to judges' houses on The X Factor.

Freddy Parker, who went to Sutton Valence School, bagged himself a seat in the Six Chair Challenge in last night's episode.

But the 18-year-old failed to impress the judges with his initial song choice of How Deep is Your Love by Calvin Harris and Disciples.

Simon Cowell stopped Freddy during his performance and his mentor Nicole Scherzinger asked him to perform Amy Winehouse's Love is a Losing Game from his first audition.

The song went down a hit with the audience, as well as judges Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh.

Louis said: "Freddy, that's why we loved you. Your voice and playing the piano, this is what you're amazing at.

"And that's why you have to get a seat."

Simon then added: "You've just proved a point, to be a great artist you've got to have great taste and you've got to know what this what like.

"The audience reacted so much better to the second song than to the first song."

But with the six chairs already filled with contestants, it was make or break for the teenager.

Freddy will be going through to judges' houses.

Nicole said: "Freddy, it's too much of a risk.

"A risk that I have to take! So i'm going to give you a seat!"

Freddy took to Twitter just after the show had finished, to thank his fans for their support.

The student, who is originally from Ashford, has odds of 20/1 to win the show on Sky Bet.

Calvin Harris will be joining Pussycat Doll Nicole for judges' houses in the South of France.
