Firefighters were called to a house just outside Maidstone town centre after a garage caught alight.

Two crews headed to Recreation Close, off Park Avenue, just after 3pm today and spent at least an hour at the scene.

The flames damaged the garage in the small cul-de-sac and the side of the adjoining house.

No injuries were reported.
