A furious mum has shared her disgust after her daughter was attacked in a town centre.

The short clip of the young girl being attacked "with a blade" by a teenager, believed to be 15, in Maidstone was shared on TikTok.

It happened outside Poundland in Week Street at around 4.45pm on Saturday.

The video shows a commotion outside the budget store. The taller girl grabs the youngster by the hair and drags her to the ground, before throwing punches.

Poundland staff and nearby police quickly stepped in, not before the girl suffers minor injuries.

Her mum, Kelly Louise Green, has been left fuming by the assault and claimed a blade was used by the older girl.

The use of a blade has not been confirmed by police and can not be seen in the clip.

"I didn't know anything about the blade until later," the 39-year-old said.

"I feel numb. I have no words for that oxygen thief and her parents.

"How can they be messing with a child's life like that when they are a child themselves?

"I've been saying for a while now people are going to have to start walking round with stab-proof vests in this town.

"Everyone thinks the trouble is from people coming into the town but it's actually the people from Maidstone and the local kids."

The mum says her daughter was later sent the video by one of the people who recorded the incident.

She added: "You would never have seen people my age doing that or even think about it when we were kids.

"The video was sent to my girl like it was something to be proud of.

"She was set up. The girl's excuse was apparently she was slagging her off. My girl hadn't been, but apparently that warrants an attack.

"She's fine now. She has cuts and bruises but nothing serious thankfully, especially as she was trying to stab her face up.

"You can see on the film they were prepared for it – they were nodding their heads and following my girl around."

The incident comes after a string of violent incidents in the street over the past few years.

Last year, a video showed girls arguing with a security guard outside McDonald's, as well as police cordoning off part of the town centre after a man was stabbed.

Police have confirmed they are investigating the attack.

A spokesman said: "We were called to a report of an assault in Week Street.

"Officers detained a juvenile suspect in connection with the incident.

"The victim suffered an injury to her hand. An investigation is ongoing."
