Girl of 11 seriously hurt in road accident

AN 11-year-old schoolgirl is in hospital with serious head injuries after being struck by a car in King Street, Maidstone. The girl, believed to be a student at Valley Park Community School in Huntsman Lane was taken to Maidstone Hospital and later transferred to King's Hospital in London.
The accident happened at the junction of King Street with Queen Anne Road at about 3.50pm yesterday.
The girl's condition was described today as stable. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to telephone PC Stuart Thomas at Maidstone and Malling police 01622 690055.
