Greg Clark will stand again for Tunbridge Wells MP at the next General Election.
Mr Clark who was first selected as the town’s MP in 2005 said he was “honoured” to have been re-selected by his local constituency party.
Mr Clark, who lives in the town with his wife Helen and three children, is currently the Minister of State in the Cabinet Office and Minister for Cities.
He has previously served as Financial Secretary to the Treasury, and as Minister of State at the Department for Communities and Local Government. It was in that role he was responsible for drafting the new National Planning Policy Framework, which now guides development across the country. One of his achievements was to see gardens reclassified so they no longer counted as “previously developed” land.
Locally, Mr Clark has campaigned for the dualling of the A21 between Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge, has pushed for the redevelopment of the ABC cinema in the centre of town, and fought for better mental health services for young people.
Mr Clarke, 46, was educated at a comprehensive school in Middlesbrough before reading economics at Cambridge and gaining a PhD at the London School of Economics.
He had a majority of 15,576 at the last election.
