A rare albino squirrel is thought to have been killed crossing a road in Maidstone.

The regular fixture in Vinters Park, Maidstone, was a sight to behold for locals but it seems to have met its end this week.

Hampton Road resident Suraj Gurung saw the squirrel for a final time on Tuesday afternoon.

He said: "I was cycling to work at Invicta Grammar when I spotted it, it had been crushed by a vehicle.

"I had taken a photo of it earlier in the day, me and my family used to see it in the garden or in the trees outside my house almost every day, it's a real shame."

The squirrel was spotted in February by a local car salesman.
