Firefighters were called to a high street pub after it caught alight.
Crews were sent to The Stag in Middle Row, Maidstone, following a fire in the basement.
Three fire engines and police attended on Monday at around 4.40pm.
As a result, officers closed the High Street in both directions between Mill Street and King Street for more than an hour.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus investigated, but the fire was already out.
They also used a high-pressure fan to clear the smoke-logged building.
There were no reported injuries, and the cause is believed to be accidental and linked to an electrical fault.
