Firefighters called after sign comes loose from Shell petrol station on A249 Detling Hill
08:30, 18 November 2015
Firefighters were called to a petrol station on Detling Hill after a piece of signage came loose.
Heavy winds caused damage at the site, just off on the Maidstone-bound carriageway, late last night.
Crews used a height vehicle to gain access to the overhead canopy at 10.11pm.
Due to the close proximity of the busy A249, crews spent over an hour removing the sign and making the site safe.
Elsewhere in Maidstone, motorists faced rush hour delays after a fallen tree on the Sittingbourne Road. Cars were also stopped from using the Dartford Crossing.
Many were kept awake as Storm Barney which saw gusts of up to 70mph across the county.
