The latest court news from Maidstone and Tonbridge includes a hot tub thief and two fraudsters.
All cases were heard at Mid Kent Magistrates' Court in Maidstone apart from Julie Mitrica's case which was heard at West Kent Magistrate's Court in Sevenoaks.
The hearings place on Tuesday, September 20 apart from Parsonage and Marston which was heard on Wednesday, September 21.
Hot tub theft
Goldie Lee pleaded guilty to theft
The 42-year-old, of York Road, Gravesend, stole an inflatable hot tub worth £365 from a shop in St Peter’s Street, Maidstone.
The incident happened on May 8, 2016.
Magistrates sentenced Lee to 90 days in prison, suspended for 18 months. She must also pay £365 compensation.
Phone call menace locked up
James Edwards pleaded guilty to sending threatening communications.
The 23-year-old, of Hampshire Drive, Maidstone, made telephone calls conveying a threat to Kent Police, with the purpose of causing distress or anxiety to the recipient.
Magistrates sentenced Edwards to five days in prison. Because the offence was committed during the operational period of a suspended sentence, the overall length of his sentence is 131 days. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.
Fraudsters caught with fake medical prescriptions
Damian John Parsonage and Shaina Marston pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud.
The court heard how the pair of Brunswick Street passed a false medical prescription at a pharmacy in High Street, Maidstone, and at another pharmacy in Week Street, Maidstone, in a bid to get Diazepam tablets.
Magistrates sentenced Parsonage, 28, to 84 days in prison, suspended for 12 months. He must also pay £40 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
Shaina Marston, 23, was sentenced to 56 days in prison, suspended for 12 months. She must also pay £40 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
