Houses may be built on cricket ground

HOUSING could be built on the site of a cricket club to ensure the survival of county cricket in Maidstone.
Mote Cricket Club, in Willow Way, Maidstone, has asked leisure consultants to come up with possible ideas to transform the 21-acre site.
A number of options are being explored but could lead to five or six homes being built to fund a revamp of the cricket pavilion and a new indoor sports centre.
Success would depend on overcoming strict covenants on the ground which prohibit housing development.
