A TikTok comedian is defying his age and weight to compete in a charity boxing match.

Carlton Taylor has trained for the past five weeks for the event organised by White Collar Boxing (WCB) to raise money for Cancer Research.

Weighing in at 25st, the coach driver from Maidstone is putting himself through the ringer with trainers John and Tim Cullen and personal trainer Amy Phillips at Kent Gloves in Gillingham to get ready for the fight.

He said: "I can't run 26 miles but I can give and take a punch.

"I hadn't been in a boxing ring since I was 17 and so everyone thought I was going to drop out but I'm not that kind of guy and now they're realising I'm serious.

"I'm the fattest and eldest person there but the people I'm training with have told me I have a hard punch."

The 57-year-old decided now is the time to help after a chance meeting with an old friend.

Carlton said: "I met a woman five months ago who I haven't seen since my 20s.

"We went down memory lane and in the last two years 18 people we knew had died of cancer - it was quite emotional.

"The reality hit me that I'm 57 and I can't leave something for when I'm 58 - I don't know what's going to happen in 12 months.

"I didn't know it was going to be this much hard work but I've lost a stone-and-a-half in five weeks and I'm cracking on with it."

Carlton has been using his presence on TikTok to gain a bit of publicity for his efforts.

Under the pseudonym of Tyrone_the_comedian69, he posted a video of his fight poster backed by the song 'So You Want To Be a Boxer' from the 1976 film Bugsy Malone.

He said: "Because I'm a bit of a comedian I wanted a tune that was fitting for me.

"I thought Bugsy Malone because I am that little fat boy."

Carlton has gained quite the following on the social media platform where a friend posts his comedy videos with one being viewed more than 60,500 times.

He said: "I'm just a coach driver who likes to make people laugh but I never thought I'd make so many people laugh."

'In the last two years 18 people we knew had died of cancer'

So far Carlton has raised around £290 of his £500 target on his donation page.

But he is also proving that age is just a number and hopes others match his efforts.

He said: "I want to let people know that at 57 I'm making a difference but also to encourage other people to make a difference.

"Most people write their lives off when they get to 50 and I'm showing them life still continues - don't write yourself off you can still do a lot."

Carlton's boxing match, along with a host of other bouts, will be held at the Kent County Showground in Detling on December 3.

Doors open at 2pm with the first fight being at 3pm.

Seated tickets will cost £40 with VIP passes being £55.
