Immigration forces are at a building site in Maidstone

Immigration officers have been spotted parked up at a building site.

Four marked vehicles were parked up in front of the Weston Homes site on Royal Engineers Road in Maidstone.

Around seven enforcement officers were at the scene.

The agency arrived at around 11am today and left around midday.

Two men working for a contractor on the site, Gypcraft, were arrested.

A spokesman for the Home Office said: "Acting on Intelligence, Immigration Enforcement officers visited a construction site at Springfield Park, Royal Engineers Road, Maidstone, at 9.20am today .

"Checks identified two Nigerian men who were working illegally. A 41-year-old had overstayed his visa and a 59-year-old had entered the UK illegally.

"Both men were arrested. The younger man was transferred to immigration detention pending removal from the UK, while the older man was ordered to report to Immigration Enforcement regularly while his case is progressed."

Weston Homes was not part of the investigation.
