An inmate who died at a Kent prison following an alleged attack has been named.
A second inmate has since been charged with murder and appeared in court after Stefan Adi, 24, died on Thursday, December 9.
Sasan Rabit, who is also 24 and an prisoner at HMP Maidstone in County Road, appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
Emergency services were called at about 3.30pm last week, but Adi was declared dead at the scene, prompting an investigation into the incident.
Thief Stefan Adi was jailed in May after he snatched a handbag from an elderly woman before pushing her to the floor and kicking her in the face in Gravesend.
The robbery took place in Commercial Place at around 7.15pm on December 29, 2019.
Adi approached the victim, who is in her 70s, from behind and grabbed her bag.
During her attempts to resist, she was pushed to the floor and kicked in the face before Adi took her bag and ran away.
Less than 20 minutes later, he used her bank card to buy a mobile phone top up from a shop in Norfolk Road.
Adi, who lived in Suffolk Road, was also found guilty of several burglaries in the same area across January and February last year.
He was jailed for five years following a trial at Woolwich Crown Court and described by Kent Police's Rebecca Ward as a "prolific offender".
The Ministry of Justice confirmed measures were taken following the incident to ensure evidence was protected, as per instructions from the police.
