Judge Philip St John-Stevens collapses during trial at Maidstone Crown Court

A judge was taken to hospital today after he collapsed at Maidstone Crown Court.
Judge Philip St John-Stevens was due to resume a long-running trial when he felt ill. He was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Called to the Bar in 1985 and made a judge in May 2009, he had been suffering the stress of family illness in recent months.
