Hungry visitors to a town centre will soon have another new option to choose from as a new name is set to open.
Kent's first Wendy's – the American diner and burger chain – is due to arrive in Maidstone in place of the former Carphone Warehouse on Week Street.
Planning and construction started this week with hoardings and workers moving on to the site.
It will be joining Taco Bell, Pizza Express and Giggling Squid which have all set up shop in the town in recent months.
Founded on November 15, 1969, Wendy's chain of restaurants has spread to more than 6,500 locations worldwide.
Wendy's announced plans to expand to 50 new locations back in November 2021 after opening new stores Reading, Stratford, Oxford, Croydon and Romford.
The UK had previously been without Wendy's since 1999 but now the firm hopes to build on recent success.
Abigail Pringle, Wendy’s chief development officer, said: “We have seen incredible success that outperformed our expectations, and it’s clear to us that customers are loving our fresh, high-quality food.”
Customers can expect a variety of menu options ranging from breakfast and vegetarian choices to their famous square-patty burgers.
Wendy's has been approached for a comment about an opening date but the company said it was not able to confirm any further details about the new Maidstone store.
