KENT opening batsman Rob Key just failed to steer the ECB Academy team to a thrilling, last day win over the Australian Capital Territory in Canberra yesterday.
The 21-year-old from East Dulwich finished unbeaten on 72 at the Manuka Oval first-class venue as the Academy reached 264 for five from 56 overs in pursuit of a target of 267.
Warwickshire pairing Ian Bell and Mark Wagh gave early impetus to the run chase with scores of 73 and 60 respectively.
