Maidstone: Detling Hill lane closure remains in place as works overrun
08:28, 07 July 2016
Roadworks put in place on Maidstone's Detling Hill have run into another day.
The southbound lane closure was put in place on Tuesday afternoon after a manhole cover was discovered to be in a dangerous position for drivers.
This closure caused long delays throughout Wednesday as it remained in place.
Kent County Council (KCC) Highways announced on Wednesday that roadworks to fix the manhole cover would be carried out that night.
The entire southbound carriageway between junction 5 of the M2 for Maidstone and junction 7 of the M20 for Detling was closed from 10pm until 5am.
In spite of this closure, roadworks remain in place this morning, and traffic continues to queue down the A249.
The traffic stretches back to the Stockbury Roundabout at junction 5 of the M2.
