Large blaze damages terraced home
00:00, 23 May 2003
FIREFIGHTERS tackled a large blaze in a row of terraced houses in Cranbrook High Street last night.
Crews from Cranbrook, Hawkhurst, Marden and Tenterden, along with an aerial ladder platform from Tunbridge Wells, were called to the scene.
They managed to contain the fire largely to the roof of one the properties, but the blaze caused serious damage to the roof and second floor of the building. The ground and first floor suffered heat, smoke and water damage.
No one was injured. Crews returned to the scene again this morning and used a thermal imaging camera to check that the fire was completely extinguished.
