Emergency response at Leeds Castle near Maidstone after reports of people in water and suspected missing person in the grounds

Reports of “people in water” at a castle prompted a huge emergency services turn-out this morning.
Search and rescue specialists, including dogs and drones were called to Leeds Castle near Maidstone at 6.15am, with a dozen vehicles in attendance.
A fire service spokesman said crews were called “following reports of people in water”.
They added: “One fire engine and a water rescue unit attended, and one person was out of the water upon the crews’ arrival.
“Following a search, no one else was found to be in the water.”
The police said a woman was taken into the care of medical professionals.
At 9.39am, fire crews left.
A spokesperson for Leeds Castle said: “In the early hours of October 11, Leeds Castle was alerted to a suspected missing person within the grounds.
“Emergency services responded swiftly and conducted a full search of the area.
“The search has now concluded and emergency services have left the site.”
The specific body of water the person had been in has not been confirmed.
